Authorisedby the 30th General Document of Chinese Ministry of Education,China’s Guangxi Univesity for Nationallities and Staffordshire University in the UK will cooperate to set up undergraduate education programme in Accounting, and will work closely with each other to cultivate undergraduates majored in Accounting. All the students are in the national college entrance programme, and the enrollees must pass the college entrance programme by Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region admission. When the students accomplish the joint academic delivery plan they will be awarded in Accounting Diploma of undergraduate course and Bachelor of Management from Guangxi University for Nationalities, meanwhile awarded in Accounting Diploma and Finance and Banking Diploma from Staffordshire University.
Excellent combination of teaching and manegement underthe cooperation of GXUN and SU
Guangxi Universityfor Nationalities is a comprehensive university co-founded by the State EthnicAffairs Commission and the People’s government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with the “National” school-running character. The university makes fulluse of domestic and intenational teaching resources to cultivateexport-oriented talent, and have made great achievements. Ages of lecturers andprofessional title structures are reasonable of the Accounting major. Currently,there are 25 staffs, including 18 professors and associate professors, 14lecturers who have got doctoral degree, and 4 lecturers who have been thecandidates of Guangxi “Top Accounting Talents” and 1st “Shi Bai” AcademicTrainning Session. Lecturers who engaged in Accounting have assumed 26national, provincial and minieterial subject study. In the recent five years,150 scientific research essays and 10 monographs have been published, whichhave provided strong, powerful and professional teaching resources for theAccounting teaching.
Staffordshire University is a nearly century-old all public university, and one of theunversities that recogonized by the Chinese and British Governments’ signing ofmutual recognition of diplomas framework agreement, and the agreement is signedin February 2013. Staffordshire University is renowned for the development ofinnovative and practical courses. Accounting major is an advantaged subject inUK, one of the most influential professions over the world, and the branddiscipline in Staffordshire University, with excellent teaching and researchteam, advanced educational philosophy and teaching methods and focused on thecultivation of education quality and practical ability.
The two universities join forces and work together to take the teaching mode ofco-management enrolling graduate students of Accounting major, and the students will spend their four-year time study in GXUN. In terms of teaching manegement,credit system elimination system and dynamic teaching management will beadopted. Students who have followed the cooperation programme in the “4+0”mode, and have passe all the assements, will be awarded in Accounting Diplomaof undergraduate course and Bachelor of Management from Guangxi University ofNationalities, mean while awarded in Accounting Diploma and Finance and BankingDiploma from Staffordshire University; namely the “domestic + foreign” doubledegree. If a student’s assements only in line with GXUN’s requirements, onlyAccounting Diploma of undergraduate course and Bachelor of Management of GXUN willbe awarded. Vice versa, if a student’s assements only in line with SU’s requirements, only SU’s Accounting Diploma and Finance and Banking Diploma willbe awarded.
In terms of curriculum,English ability intensify and public courses study will be carried out in thefirst year of the accounting major. Study of accounting major will be studiedin the second and third year, and in the fourth year the students will accomplish their undergraduate courses. The teaching plan will be developed by both parties’ working together, and undergraduate accounting curriculum will combined with GUXN’s public courses, discipline basic courses, specialized basic courses, and optional courses. Among them, the number of Accounting corecourses will accounts for two thirds of the whole course, which will be taught by the lecturers selected by SU.
In terms of Students’Enrollment Management System, the accounting major uses double enrollment management system. The Chinese part adopts the Student’s Enrollment Management System in GXUN; mean while follow the system of SU.
Taking regional teaching advantage to cultivatebilingual business elites
The first batch ofenrollees is admitted in 2012, and they are taught in small teaching classes. Different from other majors, the teaching management of Accounting major practice alone, and the students have fixed classrooms. English courses adopt British textbooks through international logistics from England to in GXUN, and the lectures aretaught by foreign teachers. To further enhance the students English ability,Sino-British take the mode of small classroom teaching and organize manyextra-curricular activities, thus to improve the students language abilitythrough the communication with the foreign teachers.
